Re: SAP ERP EHP with SAP Hana database

Hello Divyanshu,

Yes, I already understand that! That´s not a point here! My doubts is to understand the nomenclature of those products and realize if there are some differences between this products, because I see at SAP Marketplace in SAP ERP EHP installation software at http://service.sap.com/swdcand also in PAM, the name EHP6 FOR SAP ERP 6.0 ON HANA and I don´t see the same name for EHP7 (it only show the option SAP ERP 6.0 EHP7 (not "on Hana"), what does this mean?

Other thing that is for me strange is, if you search in PAM the ERP EHP6 product, the "EHP6 FOR SAP ERP 6.0 ON HANA", why it show all the database possibilites to install in "Technical Release Information" --> "Database Platforms" tabs!!! If this is only for HANA DB ("On Hana") why it shows other types of databases (like Oracle; SQL Server; DB2...)?

Direct SAP table update issues

$

Hello Experts,

Currently, in my customer system i see one custom program which is updating SAP standard table (SCM EWM) directly using below statement.

  "update /SAPAPO/MATLWH set rsqty = zmax_qty where matid = mat_wa_chunk-matid and scuguid = mat_wa_chunk-entitled_id."

I see that program is there in production from last almost 2 years and that is a product quantity update program which has to run periodically.

As per my knowledge, this is not at all acceptable. Can you please share me your thoughts, what kind of problems will occur and pre-defined

errors with direct data base table update?

What should we do now on this?

    Thank you in advance.

Dialog Instance Installation

$

Hi,

We are having SAP ECC 6.0 on platform AIX 6.1 Oracle 10g and SAP Kernel 720 patch 300.

We are trying to add Dialogue Instance to add Application Server for my production System.

We are having SapInst for Kernel 700 release (NW 7.0 SR3 UC-Kernel 7.00 AIX 64bit: D51033506--->I don't know why cannot find 'NW 7.0 SR3 UC-Kernel 720 AIX 64bit).

I trying to install with this SAPINST  and the installation overwrite my production System Kernel back to 700_REL--->Note 1701575 tell me how to invoid overwrite the CI Kernel, but I don't know it will be succesful.

From Where we able to download Installation files for dialogue instance.

Pl. guide us according to Install Dialogue Instance.

Now I have two solution for DI installation as below, could you pls confirm it's ok ? or give me any other advise .

Solution1:
Install with NW7.0 Kernel7.0, but don’t unpack Kernel Archive, directly upgrade
the Patch300 of Kernel 720 to New DI(or need upgrade to Kernel 720 first and
then apply 720 Patch 300 ?).

Solution2:
Install with 720 UC Kernel for SWPM SP04-AIX 64(51047205_3), and then don’t
need upgrade Kernel patch for New DI ?

Thanks,

Mic

Quicksizer for SAP BW - Fields % master data, Distinct values

$

Hello,

I'm using the SAP Quicksizer tool to size a SAP BW 7.31 system.

For SAP BW, Quicksizer demands five tables to be input, each one referring to an aspect of the sizing. Table 4 refers to the definition of Infocubes. In this table, the meaning and use of some columns aren't clear to me. The columns are "% master data", "Distinct values", "% dist. val. low", "% distinct val. 1".
Looking at the help provided by the quicksizer tool itself, we see the following explanations:

  • % MD
Part of master data on total InfoCube size with the assumption data is the sum of master data and InfoCube data. If you know that you have shared master data, you can enter "0" if you have already considered it once.
  • Distinct values
Average number of different values over all key figure columns.
  • % DVL
Percentage of key figures columns with very low number of distinct values (sparse).
  • % DV1
Percentage of key figure columns with one distinct value (super sparse).

Regardless of the explanation given, I am still not able to figure out the correct interpretation of those fields, and how should I fill them. I looked for other questions and official sap documents, but with no success. Therefore, I would much appreciate with someone could help me with that. Below are some doubts I had when filling the questionnaire.

Thank you,

Péterson

--

Here are some questions:

  • % MD

How should I calculate this? Is this the size of dimension tables compared to the size of the fact table? Or is this the size I expect the master data referenced in the fact table to occupy in comparison with the size of the cube itself?

  • Distinct values

Is this an absolute value? Shouldn't it be the distinct values of all characteristics columns? How should I calculate or infer this?

  • % DVL

Shouldn't this refer to the characteristics columns?

  • % DV1

Shouldn't this refer to the characteristics columns?

Finally, those fields aren't mandatory. How will they affect the final result output by quicksizer?

Hi Goluef,

I had the same error. Please configure your transport system in client 000 via transaction STMS. The program was looking for a rfc destination in table rfcdes starting with the characters "TMS".

This solved it for me.

Perhaps, It's JRE and GUI combination which is not working correctly for your frontend machine.

Can you share some details like OS, processor, machine type, 32/64 bit, windows version, java version etc to find a right combination.

Re: Alternative to replace use of Table BDCP

Hi Deepak,

Thanks for your reply. You gave very informative reply. Actually we are using PANAYA tool to update a system and PANAYA says that "SAP table BDCP which is used in START-OF-SELECTION is obsolete in SAP ERP 6.0 EHP7 SP Stack 4. Data in this table is not maintained any more" and recommend to "Search for an alternative and replace use of table BDCP". I will use BDCP2 as an alternative. I will update on the community if this is the right alternative or not.

Thanks and best regards.

Re: extend memory em/initial_size_MB to 20GB

Hello Hong,

the initial amount  'em/initial_size_MB' of extended memory will be allocated first, and it will be extended if needed until EM/TOTAL_SIZE_MB is reached. What is the value for EM/TOTAL_SIZE_MB in the affected system? It will not make much sense to increase only em/initial_size_MB, the maximum amount of extended memory is restricted by EM/TOTAL_SIZE_MB.

Reg. RAM - an estimation is

RAM+swap = heap + extended memory
