Out of interest, what is your upgrade routine.......

Hi folks,

 

Not really a problem this one, more of a polite inquiry.

 

We currently have a six monthly Support Pack upgrade cycle.  Which usually means jumping 2 or 3 Support Packs.

 

Every time I run an upgrade, it's insisted that we have a lengthy testing procedure (in DEV, QAS & PROD) which leads to delays.  Usually due to staff availability (or lack of it) and the entire procedure becomes overly complicated in my opinion.

 

My suggestion to the company is we run Support Pack upgrades much more frequently and the testing each time is not as lengthy, simplifying the process.


I'm intrigued to know what other Basis teams out there do. 


Do you guys just go ahead and install Support Packs, maybe over a weekend, and then just inform the company? Do you test in DEV before installing in QAS?

 

Any time given to answer this question would be greatly appreciated.
